Renderman

Part 01: Modifying the example shaders

In our first image, we modified the original scene files and implemented some of our own (from references online.) The bricks were modified to remove their row offset, change the spacing and size of the bricks to make them appear more like tiles that would be found in a kitchen. The wood texture was modified to appear more "trippy." It has been divided with a line and colored differently on both the top and bottom. The sphere was replaced with two new spheres: one, a cloudy looking sphere and the second a soccer ball.

Part 02: Making our own image

In our second image, we decided to take a Maya scene that Colin Doody created Fall 2007 and use the RIB exporter to get the scene file and geometry out. We then went through and replaced all of the shaders in the scene with our own custom shaders and shaders that were found in the renderman repository. The first image shows the scene as it came out from maya.

This second image shows our final image after we replaced the shaders. In order to make it look differently, we decided to use shaders to make the room look more "eroded." We tried to give the walls a more concrete, cinderblock look. We make the chairs rustier and dirtier looking. The ground looks worn, hatched and dirty. Also, the scene is darker and more dramatic.
